When You arrive to the excavations of Pompeii, You’ll find a professional guide to visit together the ruins – roughly 2 hour visit.
Pompei holds an intense fascination for visitors today. Following the eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 AD, the thriving and prosperous town of Pompei lay buried and forgotten for hundreds of years, and excavations still continue, giving us treasures from the Roman period. After the visit of homes with their original frescos, Thermal baths and other public buildings, You leave the ruins (and the guide) and You have free time for lunch.
Then, You continue Your visit with Your driver up to the height of 3,000 ft on the volcano. Up there, You’ll have 90 minutes of free time and You can walk to the very top of the crater and admire the splendid panoramic views across the bay. Remember to bring comfortable shoes (not sandals) and your camera. Mount Vesuvius dominates the Bay of Naples. It is the only active volcano on the mainland of Europe.
After that, You can return back to Your hotel.

POMPEII MONUMENT OF THE DAY
The garden of this house is embellished with large fountain decorated with coloured mosaics and compositions made of glass paste tiles. Rows of shell running all round the nymphaeum form a highly original decoration which is completed by two large theatrical masks embedded in the bases of two columns. The water for the fountain flowed through a hole in the middle of the apse and fell over a flight of marble steps, creating an impressive effect, before being collected in a small pool decorated with a bronze statue of a cupid carrying a dolphin on his back. (Apic. 8, 7, 17) Ingredients:
- 750 g pork chops
- 100 ml white wine
- 4 tbsp Liquamen (or soya sauce)
- 4 tbsp water or broth
- 4 tbsp cider vinegar
- 4 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:

Heat a frying pan, add a little oil and cook the pork chops until they are nearly done. Set the chops aside and clean the pan.
